Wooden Barrel with pewter thumb lift

From the collection of Mike Finn

This "Wooden Barrel with pewter thumb lift" is about 5" tall with copper barrel bands. It looks like it has a burned in 0.5L capacity mark and under the lid "Prosit" and some other words I can't make out burned in. In my opinion this is one of the nicer wooden barrel steins. Just guessing, made 1950-1970?

Very uncommon souvenir stein, i read: " Gruß aus Bad Mergentheim". A small town close to Würzburg with healing springs, renamed "Bad" in 1926.
