This character stein is in the form of a kegel. Many years after Germans migrated to the United States, bringing the sport of kegeling with them, the sport of bowling evoved from kegeling for practical reasons. This stein is not a bowling pin, it's a kegel.
This stein is seen in different configurations. The body itself is seen in three or four colors. The central decoration is usually transfer, this is the one with applied relief. All feature the standard "pin(kegel) boy" celebraing Alle Neun (All Nine). Kegeling utilized nine pins.
