Blue on grey salt glazed stoneware. Side scenes depict a large man riding on a boar or bear, in Germany symbolizing drunkenness. He is also tempted with food by devilish imps, probably a warning against gluttony, one of the seven deadly sins in Christian theology. The stein features a ceramic insert lid with symmetrical 'wrought iron' design with floral ?rose centre.
