picture from original catalog

A so-called 'rumtopf', produced by Reinhold Merkelbach during the late 1800's and into the 1900's.
Many of this model will have been produced, and it was available in the traditional blue/gray coloring as well as in a polychrome colored version.

The pot has been produced in 3 sizes: a small one which holds 4 liters, a medium sized one of 5 liters, and a larger one which measures about 26cm without, and 32cm including the lid and holds about 6 liters.

Now, it seems that Reinhold Merkelbach produced two different bowls with the same mold number 887. As you can see in the pictures provided there is also a largeg bowl with a decoration of leaves and a gnome. This is a 10 liter bowl, measuring a substantial 43cm tall.
The use of the same model number for two different bowls is probably an error in their numbering system, because most model numbers are unique, especially when they were used in the same era, like the end of the 19th century.
