A saltglazed stein, produced in the westerwald area, circa 1860 ~1880.

Bavarian shaped stoneware stein, decorated with rosettes, Edelweiss flowers and lion's heads. A family shield in relief is the center decoration. Background of the body is decorated in the typical Bavarian style (triangular decoration in blue and white).

Body has no maker's mark and no capacity mark, but about 1 liter capacity. Nice 'curl' on the lower handle attachment.

Plain pewter lid inscribed with the initials "NB". Pewter-mark inside the lid: "Prückner - München" for Bartholomäus Pruckner [link]
