Stein Reinhold Merkelbach #54 "Hops and leaves".
This antique miniature 0.25 liter beer mug was made by the renowned Reinhold Merkelbach factory between 1885 and 1890. In the Reinhold Merkelbach product catalog, the mold of this mug has the number 54.
Reinhold Merkelbach started producing beer mugs and related products in 1882 in the city of Her in the westerwald region of central Germany. Today, she is best known for her contribution to the development of the regional art nouveau style in the early 20th century. In 1913, faced with declining sales, Reinhold Merkelbach merged with several other companies.
The mug is decorated with a pattern of beer hops. In the center of the circle there is an inscription in German in Gothic script.: "Wohl bekomm's", which in German means a wish for health ("For health!" or "May it benefit!").
Usually, such small mugs were produced as portions complete with a large bottling jug with a capacity of 2 to 4 liters.
