Model 1493 was produced by Simon Peter Gerz, circa 1890~1920.
The elaborate decoration on this pitcher is based on paintings by the famous Flemish painter Pieter Brueghel the Younger (Brussels 1564 – 1637/8 Antwerp). For instance the dancing group of peasants on the front of the stein is based on Brueghel's painting "A Village Street with Peasants dancing" (see photos).
A lovely stein with a nice ceramic insert (of a cat's face).
