Stein "R. Capodimonte Italy M.A.S".
The beer mug is made in the technique of maximum relief, which is possible for the Capodimonte style.
There is a manufacturer's label on the outside of the bottom of the mug. This marking indicates that the product was made in Italy in the Capodimonte style.
The brand dates back to the period 1950-1970. The long tradition of porcelain production in Capodimonte dates back to the Bourbon dynasty and was founded in 1743, when King Charles of Bourbon ordered the establishment of a porcelain factory in his royal residence Capodimonte in Naples. The goal was to achieve the same level of quality as the German porcelain produced at the factory in Meissen. After the Napoleonic Wars, many factories in the German lands began to copy the Capodimonte style. The specialists of the Dresden School of porcelain became the most successful.
Our mug is made of porcelain and equipped with a brass lid lifting mechanism. Given the abundant use of gilding, this makes the mug look more aristocratic.
Masters of porcelain decoration used biblical themes when working on such mugs. In our case, we can see it.
The brand R. Capodimonte Italy M.A.S. is used on porcelain products made in Italy in the middle of the 20th century (approximately in the 1950s – 1970s), and designates a specific factory, not the original royal Capodimonte manufactory of the 18th century.
The abbreviation M.A.S. refers to the distributor Di Morra Assunta.
