"The Huntsman's Boot" E.H.G.

other

Uit de verzameling van Paulo Vik Falcon

This beer mug is designed in the shape of a hunting boot.
In southern Germany, there is an old saying in Bavaria: "Whoever cannot drink a full boot of beer is not a true Bavarian." Due to the popularity of this saying, and perhaps because people do not like drinking from their own boots, manufacturers in Germany have started producing boot-shaped drinking vessels.
Beer boots at the turn of the 19-20 centuries were common drinking vessels in German pubs, universities and other places where young drinkers gathered. Emblems of fraternities, teams were often depicted on boots.
They were used in drinking games and as a challenge for "outsiders" who were not used to drinking from a boot. Inexperienced drinkers can raise a glass so that its toe will be directed upwards or downwards, and end up in a beer shower. In order for the liquid to enter the mouth, it is necessary to overcome the air lock. However, if the glass is raised in such a way that the tip of the boot is pointing to the left or right, the sudden wave of beer will not flow out.
In our case, the legendary beer souvenir in the form of a hunter's boot was commissioned by E.H.G., one of the largest distributors of souvenirs from German factories and other countries with similar geography or folklore.
The company itself decodes its abbreviation E.H.G. as European Heritage Gifts. Translated from the German language, it means - Gifts of European Heritage.
