Impressed mark 1907 - 1920. Capital "I" & "J" are the same in Old German. Current thinking is that the dot above the crossbar is to indicate that an "I"or"J" is there; hence "Albert Jacob Thewalt".

This large beer mug was made between 1907 and 1914 at the Albert Jacob Thewalt Manufactory. This is indicated by the stamp on the outside of the bottom (see photo). Details about the history of the Albert Jacob Thewalt Manufactory can be found at the following link:

The drawing on the mug is signed with an old Bavarian proverb: "Froher Sinn, gesundes Blut sind mehr wert als Geld und Gut". The proverb translates as follows: The feeling of happiness and healthy blood are more valuable than money and property.

The mug features a painting by the famous Austrian artist Franz Von defregger (1835-1921) called "The Tyrolean Salon".
defregger worked mainly in the genres of portrait and everyday scenes from the lives of Tyrolean peasants. However, defregger's fame was established by a series of paintings dedicated to the Tyrolean Uprising of 1809 and its leader, Andreas Hofer. The artist excelled in creating monumental and energetic paintings.
