About the Brewery:

Wolfertstetter Bräu is a family-run brewery in Vilshofen an der Donau (Lower Bavaria). It dates back to 1875, founded by Ludwig Wolfertstetter, and it has stayed in the family since then. They specialize in traditional Bavarian beers and are known locally for a wide range of brews including Helles, Dunkel, Weißbier, and seasonal specialties like Festbier.

Vilshofen itself is a known brewing town and hosts beer events like the “Starkbierfest” and is just west of Passau.

The brewery continues to operate today, making the stein likely a mid-to-late 20th century example (circa 1960s–1980s). The style, printing technique, and hooked L capacity mark all align with that era.

Notes:
• The “hook-style L” is quite typical of steins from mid-century mass production, especially 1950s–70s, and varies a bit by region and pottery.
• The solid circle logo with initials is a bolder, more modern branding style, which supports a post-WWII production date.
• These kinds of brewery-branded mugs were likely used in the brewery’s own Gasthaus (brew pub) or for promotional/beerfest purposes.
