Merkelbach & Wick made steins 1872-1921, this "Scrollwork with Sayings" is about 6-1/2" tall. It doesn't have a capacity mark or Germany and the mold number is under the handle. It's mold #232C, with 23C on the left of the handle and the other 2 on the right. There is a hard to see M&W logo on the base. The heavy three ring open pewter hinger was used around 1875-1895. This stein isn't in the Beer Stein Library. In 1887 it was required to have Germany or Made in Germany on all exports, this stein may have been made 1872-1886.
