Simon Peter Gilles founded his company in 1903. He merged with Matthias Girmscheid in 1920, but went independent again around 1931. This company sold many steins with English text. Sales ceased in 1977. This Monk doesn't have any marks at all, but I have seen other Monks with the S over the G logo. The second base picture is from another identical monk stein with the logo. This one is about 9-1/4" high. I'm just guessing it was made in 1950, so maybe it around 70 years old.
