Regensburg stein with procelain inlaid lid

Uit de verzameling van Paul Van Eck

Regensburg stein

A Regensburg type stein with a porcelain inlaid lid.
The lid insert features two horse's heads facing eachother.

The verse on the body is very hard to read. I can only make out the word 'Bierhalle', so the scene is the inside of a Bierhalle (tavern) where we see several people inside. What seems to be a butcher and his wife, as well as a military man.

Update February 2021: A kind visitor of this website informe me about the verse:
"Hunger haben wir kein aber viel Durst, viel Durst" (We are not hungry but much thirsty, much thirsty). See also: [link]

Capacity mark on the front is preceded by a capital 'S', so 'S 1/2L'.

Volume marking with the letter "S" is typical for factory work Max Borho / August Zinkl./ G.F. "Fritz" Thenn 1870s
