"Der Jugend Lust des Mannes Kraft, schafft dir der edle Gerstensaft" is the phrase on this stein by Reinhold Merkelbach. It is a drinking verse, and it translates freely as "Youthful enthusiasm and manly strength, beer provides it!".
It was designed and produced in the 1880-1900 era, and many will have been made, but for export as for domestic use.
The decoration depicts some young angels, playing around and having fun, undoubtedly with a couple beers..
