The "Modest meeting of intellectuals" group. This antique pre-war beer mug was made in 1934. This is evidenced by the inscription on the rim of the tin lid. The capacity of the mug is 0.5 liters. The bottom of the mug is significantly raised above the edge of the side surface. This gives the mug a more solid appearance and a high size.
The mug does not have the brand name of the manufactory where it was made. Nevertheless, according to a number of signs, it can be attributed to the products of the Reinhold Merkelbach factory.
The surface of the mug is decorated with a pattern made in the technique of deep relief. The plot of the drawing is dedicated to the meeting of two intelligent-looking men celebrating an important event for them. Perhaps these are representatives of the scientific community who decided to celebrate an important event over a glass of beer. The waitress fills their glasses from a bottle with a drink. There are two inscriptions on the left and right of the mug handle, complementing each other. On the left, we see the phrase "Trink mit Freuden," which translates to "Drink with joy." It says: "immer bescheiden!", which translates from German as "always be modest!"
Therefore, this is a toast for intelligent people, which corresponds to the plot of the drawing on the mug.
