Black majolica pitcher, circa 1860~1890

other - Modell Nr. 1869

Aus die Sammlung von Paul Van Eck

A black majolica pitcher, historismus style, produced circa 1861~1891 by the company F. Gerbing Witwe. See: [Link]

The panels on this pitcher show the coat of arms of the Kurfürst (elector) Ansel Franz von Ingelheim (Kurfürst von Mainz).
See [Link] for detailed information around this "Wappen". And see [Link] for an indepth article about Anselm Franz von Ingelheim.

--

Majolica is quite easily damaged, and this jug shows proof of that, in the form of several small chips. But still a nice example from this producer.

The bottom of the pitcher shows the factory marking "G&St.", as well as an inscribed number 1869. That number may represent the model number, or (less likely but not impossible) the year of manufacture.
