Antique Bavarian shaped beer mug. It was made as a souvenir for the guests of Munich. A boy in a monk's habit with a mug of beer in his hands and a radish as a traditional monk's beer snack is considered a symbol of Munich. They call him the "Munich Kid."
The bottom of this mug has a brand that belongs to Jakob Reinemann.
Jacob Reinemann founded his business in 1873, but just seven years later, in 1880, he sold it to Otto Lowenstein, a Munich merchant. Reinemann created a distribution business to refine mugs as souvenirs. Reinemann died the following year in 1881, but Lowenstein continued to order and sell mugs bearing Reinemann's name for many more years.
The figurative souvenir mugs "Munich Child" made to order by Reinemann can be found in ceramic and porcelain. Since around 1905, Reinemann has been ordering mugs from Merkelbach & Wick.
