Aus die Sammlung von Paulo Vik Falcon

The Monk's Delicious Drink mug was made in 1893 at the Columbian Art Pottery (Morris Willmore Co.) in Trenton, New Jersey, USA. In 1893, longtime partners William T. Morris and Francis Willmore, who had previously worked at Royal Worcester in the United Kingdom and Ott & Brewer in Trenton, opened their own company called Columbian Art Pottery in 1893 to produce exhibits for the Columbian World's Fair, also known as the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. To participate in this exhibition, they designed a whole series of beer mugs decorated with scenes from the daily life of monks. This is one of them.
They produced both Belleek porcelain products (marked with a shield with the letters M.W. intertwined) and high-quality white tableware with decor. In 1901, they had 45 employees. Apparently, the partnership ended around 1905, and William T. Morris continued to trade as Morris China Co. until about 1915.
Metal parts for the products were supplied by Manning Bowman & Co. The information for this description is borrowed from this source:
