Mettlach mold # 1526 | “00 = Date 1900 | “14” and line with hash on both sides?
Villeroy & Boch (Mettlach) 1L. stoneware masskrug/Maßkrug with a beautiful pewter inlay lid and a deer horn thumblift.
It is marked on the bottom with the Mettlach mold # 1526.
The impressed date mark “00” signifies made in 1900.
Other impressed marks on base are the # “14” and what looks like a capital “I’, not sure ?
The pewter lid has a porcelain inlay of a stag and doe in the forest. The owner's initials are on the rim. The thumblift is a custom piece with real deer horn thumblift.
The strap is tight and the tang is firmly affixed to the lid. This very unique stein is in very good clean and undamaged condition.
